Words from a friend on Adoption

Our friend Melissa Cole sent us these words…please pray for and with us concerning Alejandra.

We have no more information since my last entry about her.

Thanks!

“When Tom Petty wrote ‘the waiting is the hardest part’ he knew what he was talking about.  As we have waited in the process of this adoption I have looked at other people who were waiting in scripture.  Noah is waiting on the flood, Moses on the Promised Land, Simeon and Anna on the baby Jesus and those of us who belong to Christ on his return.  It seems like every character in scripture is waiting on something…therefore there must be some treasure God has for us in the wait.  Scripture is full of promises that have not yet come to fruition so it is good for us who cling to those promises to learn to wait well. “

  1. “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise. . .He is patient with you” (2 Peter 3:9).

God waits on us. I know that he has been remarkably patient with me in my own life, and he is even delaying the redemption of the earth, waiting for people he created & loves to turn to him.

When we wait, we imitate him. And when we imitate God, we begin to be more like him.

Praying with you concerning Alejandra. I wonder, in making her wait for a family when she is so young, what kind of a wonderful plan her Father has for her life. May she have loving arms to hold her, to show her what her Father is like.

  2. These scriptures have blessed me in our wait for Drew. We love you guys and pray peace over your family in the waiting.

    Habakkuk 2:3

“This vision is for a future time. It describes the end and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.”

    Isaiah 26:8

“We’re in no hurry, God. we’re content to linger in the path sign-posted with your decisions, who you are, and what you’ve done are all we’ll ever want.”

  3. Oh little Alejandra. We long for you to come home.

God – I pray that you let your goodness overflow into Alex and Mere’s hearts this season. Protect Alejandra while she too is waiting for that precious love. Take Kat, Eli, and Ben and prepare them as well, for whatever the future holds.

Love you guys. Give the kids a big hug for me.
